• Berberine

It is an alkaloid mainly used in traditional Chinese medicine to reduce glycated hemoglobin and fasting blood sugar. A meta-analysis of 14 studies found that taking this substance for 12 weeks, combined with proper lifestyle, is associated with improvements in fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and reduction in fasting insulin levels. Other studies have also confirmed this as well as demonstrating an acute hypoglycemic action. Alpha lipoic acid (abbreviated as ALA), is a fatty acid synthesized by our body of which there are two (chemically equal) versions: the R and S forms. CoQ10 is found in cell membranes and mitochondria, organelles located inside cells. • Inositol

In humans, inositol is present in two forms: myo-inositol (MI) and D-chiro-inositol (DCI). It is localized at the level of cell membranes, bound to membrane phospholipids with the function of a second messenger, i.e., it transmits within the target cell the message of a hormone when this by its structure is unable to cross the cell membrane. Specifically, Myo-inositol is responsible for the uptake of glucose into cells, that is, it gets glucose into the cell and brings it to be transformed into energy.
At the liver level, when insulin contacts the receptor, most of the Myo-inositol is released from membrane phospholipids and promotes a series of reactions that lead to the entry of glucose into the liver cell.

The Olecol® Patent

Olecol® is a natural ingredient derived from olive leaves, with an elevated content of oleuropein, a unique bioactive phytonutrient. Olecol® is highly soluble in water due to the special extraction method using solufenol. This all-natural substance helps control lipids in the blood stream by reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (TG), while increasing good cholesterol (HDL) and the ratio between them.

The benefits of OLECOL® have been evaluated in three clinical studies, which demonstrated the dual action of the ingredient:

A 12-month study investigated the effects of a daily dose of 250 mg of OLECOL® on subjects with elevated cholesterol levels. After 12 months, results showed a significant effect on blood lipid levels. In addition to that, the levels of LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol and triglycerides were significantly decreased and in addition, a significant difference in the total cholesterol/HDL ratio was shown. This ratio predicts the subject's risk of developing atherosclerosis and, by extension, cardiovascular disease.

A second study was conducted to investigate the triglyceride (TG) and TG / HDL-c ratio in overweight subjects. The 4-week study showed a significantly improved TG / HDL-c ratio in the group receiving Olecol® treatment compared with the placebo group. In addition, triglyceride levels improved only after 4 weeks of supplementation.

Regarding antioxidant properties, an additional study measured the oxidant status of blood lipids and the circulating levels of extract metabolites in the plasma and urine of participants. Olecol® has been shown to have antioxidant properties and to protect against LDL oxidation. Oxidative stress leads to the production of damaging free radicals, and these molecules have been shown to be linked to vascular inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and subsequently to a high prevalence of cardiovascular disease.
